Se utilizó una metodología descriptiva a partir de recopilación de datos y documentos académicos y sobre todo la observación de campo. Dentro del trabajo de campo se visitó los principales atractivos turísticos culturales del barrio, como son: Museo interactivo de Ciencia MIC, teatro México, iglesia de Chimbacalle, estación de ferrocarril, los molinos Royal, etc. En ese sentido se buscó fortalecer y dar a conocer el patrimonio cultural de Chimbacalle a través de la propuesta de actividades innovadoras, involucrando a la gente de la localidad, quienes serían los protagonistas de esta propuesta ya que se encargarán de la planificación, operación de las actividades turísticas. De esta manera, el presenta plan de tesis pretende aportar al desarrollo de la economía local y dar a conocer la historia y tradiciones del barrio de Chimbacalle.This research work aims to propose tourist activities in the Chimbacalle neighborhood, in the south of Quito, a neighborhood with a lot of tradition. A descriptive methodology was used based on data collection and academic documents and, above all, field observation. Within the field work, the main cultural tourist attractions of the neighborhood were visited, such as: MIC Interactive Science Museum, Mexico Theater, Chimbacalle Church, railway station, the Royal mills, etc. In this sense, we sought to strengthen and make known the cultural heritage of Chimbacalle through the proposal of innovative activities, involving the people of the town, who would be the protagonists of this proposal since they will be in charge of the planning, operation of the tourist activities.
