dc.descriptionAbstract: Myopia and astigmatism are causes of blurred vision for people, they are caused by refractive errors and prevent the eye from focusing light correctly and a clear image is not obtained, so it is necessary to assess and correct them by professionals. visual health. A prospective longitudinal observational study was carried out, with the objective of knowing the incidence of myopia and astigmatism in adolescents treated at the “Vista Para Todos” optician, Sangolquí branch, belonging to the province of Pichincha, Rumiñahui canton in the period of time from January to September 2020. A sample of 139 patients was used out of a total of 200. Variables such as: visual acuity, age and sex were operationalized. The qualitative variables were summarized using absolute and relative percentage frequencies. The X2 test was used at 95% certainty to compare frequencies or associate variables. 95 patients with normal visual acuity (68.3%) were found, followed by 38 patients with visual limitation (27.3%). 108 patients with myopia and astigmatism were found, representing (77.7%). The age group that predominated was 14-18 years old, representing 72.7% of the study sample. Low myopia predominated with 66 patients, the right eye being the most representative (61.1%), whereas insignificant astigmatism appeared in 54 patients with a predominance of the right eye (50%).es_ES
dc.description.abstractLa miopía y el astigmatismo constituyen causa de visión borrosa para las personas, se dan por defectos de refracción e impiden que el ojo enfoque la luz correctamente y no se obtenga una imagen nítida, por lo que es necesario su valoración y corrección por profesionales de la salud visual. Se realizó un estudio observacional de tipo longitudinal prospectivo, con el objetivo de conocer la incidencia de miopía y astigmatismo en adolescentes atendidos en la óptica “Vista Para Todos” sucursal Sangolquí perteneciente a la provincia de Pichincha cantón Rumiñahui en el periodo de tiempo Enero-Septiembre de 2020.Se utilizó una muestra de 139 pacientes de un total de 200. Se operacionalizaron variables como: agudeza visual, edad y sexo. Las variables cualitativas se resumieron mediante frecuencias absolutas y relativas porcentuales. Se utilizó la prueba de X2 al 95% de certeza para comparar frecuencias o asociar variables. Se encontró 95 pacientes con agudeza visual normal (68,3 %), seguido de 38 pacientes que presentan limitación visual (27,3%). Se encontraron 108 pacientes con miopía y astigmatismo que representaron el (77,7%). El grupo etario que predominó fue el de 14-18 años representando el 72,7% de la muestra de estudio. Predominó la miopía baja con 66 pacientes siendo el ojo derecho el más representativo (61,1%) en cambio el astigmatismo insignificante se presentó en 54 pacientes con predominio del ojo derecho (50%).es_ES
